Cotswolds

Cotswold Water Parks are a 5 minute drive away offering sailing, wind surfing, water ski-ing, paddle boarding, canoeing and much more. There is even a beach where you can picnic and swim, and two golf courses close by too. It is a very popular walking area here in the South Cotswolds including the Thames Trail.

Historic

Cirencester, the old Roman town of Corinium, and the county town of the area, is a short distance away with its Roman Villa and Museum as well as a wealth of nice shops, pubs and cafes. Also nearby is Malmesbury, a typical thriving Cotswold market town.

Lacock

Lacock is worth a visit. You will find you recognise parts of this unspoilt cobbled village as it has been used to film many period dramas. Lacock Abbey was the home of William Fox-Talbot, the inventor of photography and at the Abbey there is a museum which celebrates his work.

We recommend

Other places of interest are Silbury Hill, a pre-historic tumulus or burial mound, Avebury with its stone circle as old as Stonehenge, Westonbirt Arboretum and Marlborough which boasts the widest high street in the country, once used for the cattle market.

Local Events

We are ideally located for the Badminton Horse Trials, Fairford which hosts RIAT (Air Tattoo), the Barbury Horse Trials in Marlborough and Charlton Park where the WOMAD music and arts festival is held. If you are a racing fan and fancy a flutter, we are 30 minutes from Cheltenham.
